We are currently experiencing a technical issue that is impacting our ability to receive faxes. As a result, clinical documentation and prescription requests sent via fax may not be received. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, though we do not yet have an estimated time for resolution. In the meantime, we encourage patients to use the patient portal for prescription refill requests or to call your primary care provider for any urgent needs. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore our systems.

My name is Karen Weiss and I am a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner.

I was born and raised in a suburb north of Boston but decided to travel west for graduate school at the University of California. I received my master’s degrees in public health and public policy in 1991, and advanced practice nursing in 1998. I also completed a fellowship in adolescent medicine.

In 2007, I moved with my partner and two sons to South Portland, where we have lived happily ever since. I feel incredibly lucky to have a job that, after more than 20 years, I still look forward to going to every day.

My practice includes children of all ages, from infancy through adolescence. I have a special interest in working with teens. The teen years can be difficult ones, especially for young women. By providing a combination of both practical tools and emotional support, I try to help teens negotiate the many twists and turns along the road to adulthood.

I offer guidance and resources to parents as well to help them support their teens along the way. I also love working with new parents and their infants. There is little that compares to the highs and lows of those first few years of parenting. It’s a joy and an honor to share that with my families.
