Andrea Higgins, MD

My name is Andrea Higgins, and I am thrilled to be a physician in InterMed's Internal Medicine practice. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing patients meet their health goals and enjoy a greater quality of life.

I chose internal medicine and primary care because I love science and physiology and I cherish the opportunity to build lasting relationships with the people in my community.

I get to help patients prevent, manage and reverse chronic disease and support them through difficult diagnoses. Medicine is always changing and there is always more to learn.

I am originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but fell in love with New England. I relocated here with my wonderful husband, our toddler, newborn and dog after completing my internal medicine residency in the primary care track at Brown University.

We look forward to being closer to family and becoming part of the Portland community. We're excited to spend time on the water, travel to new places and explore all the outdoor activities Maine has to offer, especially hiking and skiing.
