We are currently experiencing a technical issue that is impacting our ability to receive faxes. As a result, clinical documentation and prescription requests sent via fax may not be received. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, though we do not yet have an estimated time for resolution. In the meantime, we encourage patients to use the patient portal for prescription refill requests or to call your primary care provider for any urgent needs. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to restore our systems.

Mohs Surgery

Schedule an appointment today!

Mohs surgery has the highest cure rate of any skin cancer treatment.

Mohs Surgery is a precise, safe and effective way of removing skin cancers.

Under local anesthesia, layers of tissue are removed and examined under a microscope at our onsite laboratory. This process is repeated, if necessary, until all the cancer is removed and only normal tissue remains.

Using this technique, 100 percent of the surgical margin can be checked, while removing the least amount of normal tissue.

FAQs

What can I expect during my appointment?

Patients going through with a Mohs Surgery will have previously had a pre-op appointment with Dr. Galeckas and his team to discuss treatment options. Also, during the pre-op appointment, the team will discuss with the patient the process of surgery day, including the expected surgery length and healing timeframe. Any post-op appointments or care needed will be scheduled on the day of the surgery.

What is involved in training for Mohs surgeons?

Fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons have obtained the highest possible level of education and training available for the treatment of skin cancer. This training allows Mohs surgeons to accurately interpret slides of tissue from complex tumors. Mohs surgeons are also trained to perform a wide breadth of surgical skin reconstructions — from simple closures to flaps, grafts and complicated multi-step repairs.
