Instead of relying solely on medications, it employs procedures like nerve blocks, epidural injections, and radiofrequency ablation to target the source of pain directly. The goal is to provide relief, improve function, and enhance the quality of life for patients with various pain conditions. At InterMed, Interventional Pain Medicine’s scope includes in-office consults and treatment, and lower-risk procedures in InterMed’s Ambulatory Surgery Center.

What can I expect during my appointment?

During an Interventional Pain Medicine appointment, you'll discuss your medical history and current health concerns with the physician. They'll ask about symptoms, conduct a physical examination, and may review any relevant medical records or test results. Depending on your condition, they may recommend further diagnostic tests, such as imaging scans, to help identify the underlying causes of your pain. The physician will then explain their findings and discuss treatment options with you, which could include both surgical and non-surgical approaches. They'll address any questions or concerns you have and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

When should I schedule an Interventional Pain Medicine appointment?

Your primary care physician or provider will initiate care and/or a referral when it is clinically appropriate for you to see Interventional Pain Medicine.
