Is there any prep I need to do for imaging tests?
Prepping for an imaging exam will depend on the modality. You can expect your physician, provider and/or our scheduling team to instruct you on the prep that is necessary before your exam. Prepping for an ultrasound, MRI, or CT scan may include restrictions related to intake of food or liquids prior to your appointment. Use of a contrast agent may also be involved to help create enhanced images and clearer distinctions between different types of tissues, organs, etc. For mammograms, you will be asked to avoid use of deodorants, lotions, powders etc. under you arms and on/under your breasts on the day of your appointment as these substances can appear as white spots on images. For x-ray and bone density, no preparations are usually necessary.
