Treating hearing loss and related auditory problems for everyone.

A doctor of audiology, or audiologist, is a licensed healthcare professional specializing in identifying, diagnosing, treating, managing and monitoring hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing of the ears) and balance disorders.

At the InterMed Audiology Clinic, we treat hearing loss and related auditory problems in individuals of all ages. The clinic works in close cooperation with a variety of specialists to provide state-of-the-art diagnostic testing for patients with any degree of hearing loss or communicative impairment.

Audiologists also help design and implement personal and industrial hearing safety programs, newborn hearing screening programs, and provide special-fitting ear plugs and other hearing protection devices to help prevent hearing loss.

What can I expect during my visit?

Patients can expect hearing tests and audiograms to be performed, depending on the reason for their visit. If hearing aids are deemed the best treatment, our audiologist can assist with purchasing, fitting, and checking the aids. Infants and children will be accompanied by their parent/caretaker for the entirety of the visit and tests. The audiologist can also refer patients for other treatment as they see fit.

Our Services:

Hearing Evaluations

Adults: Hearing evaluations involve measuring hearing sensitivity and speech understanding. Middle ear function is assessed. Test interpretation, counseling, and treatment recommendations are provided.

Children: Hearing evaluations involve behavioral assessment of hearing and evaluation of middle ear function. Interpretation of results, counseling, and treatment recommendations are discussed with the child’s parent or guardian.

Hearing Aid Consultation and Fittings

If the hearing evaluation indicates that hearing aids are needed, the audiologist will discuss which hearing aid options are most appropriate. State-of-the-art digital circuitry hearing technologies are available. Hearing aid fitting with counseling and follow-up visits are also provided. Hearing aids come with a repair warranty with damage coverage from the manufacturer and a service plan provided by InterMed Audiology.

Baha Implants

Bone anchored hearing prostheses (Baha implants) are surgically implanted to allow sound to be conducted through the bone instead of the middle ear. They are designed for individuals with conductive or mixed loss, or for single-sided deafness. Services include evaluation for candidacy, programming of the processor and follow-up.

Swim Plugs

Specially designed, custom-fit swim molds block water from getting into your ears and help prevent infections and discomfort.

Hearing Protection Plugs

Form-fitting ear plugs protect ears from excessive levels of noise and help prevent hearing damage due to heavy equipment, power tools, firearms, etc.

Musician’s Ear Plugs

Custom-made in-ear filters to preserve sound quality and provide acoustic protection for musicians.
